Despite plans to reopen all schools on Monday, 4th January, the Government announced on 30 December 2020, that the reopening of secondary schools in England will be delayed by two weeks for most pupils. Universities have also been asked to reduce students returning to campus after the festive period.
Education Secretary Gavin Williamson, said those secondary school pupils that are taking exams - Years 11 and 13 - would return to school on 11 January, and the rest would return on 18th. The delay in reopening will allow the Government and schools to put testing systems in place. The Ministry of Defence has stated that 1,500 military personnel would be deployed to help with this.
In a significant U-turn, the Government has just announced that primary schools will not be opening in London. It comes only two days after it assured that only 22 out of London’s 32 boroughs would be affected by closures. This late notice will obviously impact working parents, and schools, who have just this weekend to implement remote learning for the 4th January, to continue indefinitely.
This comes after mounting pressure to delay schools reopening, with the government
advisory panel Sage declaring "they must shut in January", and Independent Sage
advocating a full lockdown to contain the new, more contagious coronavirus strain spreading rapidly throughout the country.

在1月18日才可回校。所有大學亦被要求延遲學生回校的日期。
延遲回校日期可容許政府及學校在校內設定病毒檢驗系統。國防部將會派出1,500個軍人協助
學校進行這項工作。
政府特然改變主意，宣佈倫敦所有小學都會暫停復課。兩日前政府還堅持倫敦32個地區中只
有22個地區的小學會延遲開學。這遲來的決定必然會為在職父母及學校，他們只有這個週末
去安排網教事宜。
政府之所以如此決定皆因是因為坊間有很多聲音，紛紛建議政府要求所有學校在一月延遲開課
。有一些組織更建議政府將全國封鎖以控制變種病毒的快速傳播。

克尼区内的小学虽会如常开学，但伦敦有23个地区新冠病毒感染情况严重，因此这些地区内
的小学将会延迟开课。 虽则如此，这些学校还是会为关键员工的子女或有特别需要的孩童提

克尼市长，Phil Glanville对克尼小学在一月要复课感到忧虑。 根据英国公共卫生局的新冠病
毒感染数字显示，克尼市内每100,000个人中便有830人感染病毒，感染数字在伦敦排行第十
。 反观其他地区，如西敏寺市，虽拥有较低的感染数字但却可容许该区的小学关闭。
